ashtags are relatively new to Pinterest but they are now starting to see some traction.

Hashtags are a new way to reach users interested in your content. When a user searches a hashtag the freshest pins with that hashtag will appear at the top of the feed.

Where To Add Hashtags?

Keep in mind that hashtags in account descriptions, board titles, board descriptions, your bio or profile names aren’t clickable.

The only place you can click and search hashtags are in a Pin’s description. So, I wouldn’t waste any time adding any hashtags to anything other than the Pin description.

When you add hashtags to the Pin description, Pinners can visit a feed of all the Pins that share that hashtag.

When adding a hashtag, be specific and be descriptive. Use words or phrases that describe the content in the Pin – whilst Pinterest recommends you can up to 20 hashtags per Pin, this seems to be a lot. I recommend no more than 4 – 5 and only use hashtags that make sense and are relevant to the Pin.

Add hashtags to new Pins only, don’t bother editing older Pins, the hashtags won’t work.
